Isfar Sabaski (in the center)
Azerbaijani jazz performed by Sarabski exceeded all expectations of the audience in the US center of culture.
The performance of Isfar Sabaski, an Azerbaijani pianist and a winner of the international contest in Montre, at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater on October 30 has become a finding for the Californian jazz fans, the news service for the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Los Angeles reports.
Azerbaijani jazz performed by Sarabski exceeded all expectations of the audience in the US center of culture. After each composition, the audience stood up to applaud. The concert held under support of Azerbaijan’s General Consulate in LA, has become the jazzman’s first open concert in the United States. Erik Klass and Greg Swiller played with Sarabski. Producer Adrienne Tripp as well as companies Angel City Jazz Festival and CafeMode.com were the organizers.
During his visit to California, Isfar Sarabski also held an exclusive presentation of Azerbaijani jazz for a limited circle of professional musicians and specialists in music at the Vibrato elite club. When sharing impressions after getting familiar with the works of the young pianist, one of the leading US music critics Don Hechman urged the readers to remember Isfar Sarabski’s name. Heckman stressed the influence of Mugam and Vagif Mustafazade on the Azerbaijani musician saying in the end that Sarabski is contributing to jazz transformation in the 21st century.
It has become the second opportunity for the Californian public to get familiar with the unique wealth and diversity of Azerbaijani music this year. Thus, virtuous violinist Sabina Rakcheeva was the first who held a series of concerts in California in May of this year.
