The Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan considers it expedient to work out a joint plan of actions for 2010-11 in collaboration with UNICEF and the National Association of Parent-Teachers of Azerbaijan (VMA).
Education minister Misir Mardanov says that currently the Association is numbering about 1 000 member schools and kindergartens.
“Contest ‘The Parent of the Year’ will be a positive factor for building of systematic relations between school and parents. For more efficiency of VMA network parents can participate as observers in centralized leaving examinations,” Mardanov said.
There were also made proposals for contest ‘The Pupil of the Year’, formation of public control in education by VMA management, and holding of a forum or congress of parents.
In addition, the meeting participants considered it expedient to conduct meetings before new school year with VMA management and parents and make a joint action plan for 2010-11 with the MoE, UNICEF and VMA.
