Night of Azerbaijani music held in Canada

August 26 has been declared the Day of Azerbaijani mugam by the decision of the administration of Canadian Niagara and the Niagara music festival.

The concerts of Azerbaijani classical and folklore music have been held in this famous Canadian center of tourism since 2006.

According to sources in the Azerbaijani embassy in Canada, the night of Azerbaijani music was held in Niagara on August 26.

Niagara city mayor Gari Burrogs spoke at the opening of the night. He handed honorable awards to art director of the Silk Way chamber orchestra, composer and conductor Ismayil Hajiyev and sculptor Omar Eldarov.

Azerbaijan’s ambassador in Canada Farid Shafiyev, as well as members of the Ontario parliament Quinter and Moridi who visited our country in July this year also spoke at the opening of the night.

Compositions by Uzeir Hajibeyli, Gara Garayev, Hasan Rzayev, Farhad Badalbeyli were performed during the concert.

Khanende Gullu Muradova sang mugam under accompaniment of Sahib Pashazade on tar and Geoffrey Verbok on kamancha.
