Baku will host "Maiden Tower" the Third International Art Festival at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The festival organized by the Modern Art Museum, Maiden Tower Picture Gallery and Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve will run from 17 to 19 May, Gun.Az reported citing the Foundation.

The festival which aims to raise awareness about the symbol of Baku, Maiden Tower, included to the UNESCO World Heritage, will involve famous painters from 18 different countries.

They will decorate small models of the tower with their national ornaments and create works reflecting the synthesis of different cultures and traditions.

Differently from the previous ones, this year's festival will showcase gazelle models to draw attention to endangered "Caucasus five" within IDEA ecological campaign. These models will be decorated by painters participating in pervious competitions of the festival.

Another peculiar feature of this year's festival is the presentation of video mapping technology on the Maiden Tower.

Modern post-production video technologies will be used in the mapping. To provide 360º view of the Maiden Tower, 30 projectors will be installed in seven different sports around the tower.

The Bakuvians and guests of the city will be able to watch the colorful views till 29 May.

Up to now, over 40 painters from different countries of the world have attended the Maiden Tower International Art Festival. Besides introducing the Azerbaijani culture and art to foreign painters, the festival contributes to the promotion of the Maiden Tower in the world. Unique works of the painters to be created within the festival will be showcased in France and Italy.
