Today, the retail sale prices of cigarettes have increased on average AZN 0.5 across the country.

This is the second price hike after decision made by Central Bank on switching to floating rate on December 21, 2014. The first hike made 48%.

Signals of next price hike appeared at the end of yesterday. Wholesale points had suspended sale of cigarettes and the prices increased about AZN 0.50 – 0.70.

Japan Tobacco International Baku told APA-Economics that the price hike was related to real rate of US dollar.

As is known, the production of tobacco production is related to import process. USD rise is affecting this sphere.

Ministry of Economy and Industry told APA-Economics that the price hike in tobacco products is being investigated and the results and reasons will be publicized within a day.
