After Saudi Arabia, Indonesia is the biggest energy partner of Azerbaijan.

The statement came from Azerbaijani Ambassador to Indonesia Tamerlan Garayev, Gun.Az reports.

He noted that last year Indonesia purchased USD 1,7bn worth oil from Azerbaijan. This figure is expected to hit USD 2bn this year.

According to the diplomat, the two countries already want to cooperate in this field by applying new methods.

"The Indonesian side wants Azerbaijan to build an oil refinery in this country. This is a proposal and I think this is a good proposal to us, since we send crude oil to them. After the construction of this refinery, we would be able to send finished products not just to Indonesia, but to nearby countries, as well."
