Azerbaijan strongly condemns the attempted military coup in Turkey and considers such actions unacceptable.

The due statement came from Novruz Mammadov, deputy head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, chief of the Administration's foreign relations department, APA reports.

Azerbaijan is concerned about the latest developments in Turkey, said Mammadov.

“We all, like President Ilham Aliyev, were concerned over the events in Turkey all the night,” said the top official, calling this a coup attempt that is directed against Turkey’s Constitution and democracy, and the will and choice of the Turkish people.

Mammadov noted that everyone is aware of the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, the two brotherly peoples and the heads of state, and this means that Azerbaijan will always stand by Turkey.

According to him, such a coup attempt can’t be realized and accepted in Turkey of nowadays.

Turkey is ruled by the president and government democratically elected by the people, added the top official.

Mammadov said he thinks this coup attempt will be remembered as the last coup attempt in the history of Turkey.
