The Polish Foreign Ministry has issued advice for Polish citizens planning to travel to Azerbaijan.

The advice says: "We kindly inform you that under international law Nagorno-Karabakh is an inseparable part of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Entering the occupied territories without the prior consent of the authorities in Baku will constitute a violation of the state border of the Azerbaijan Republic."

The advice comes after a Polish MEP, Tomasz Poreba, visited the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which is occupied by Armenian forces, without first obtaining the consent of Azerbaijan.

In response, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry presented a note of protest to the European Union and Republic of Poland.
