Washington not interferes in internal affairs of Azerbaijan - Bryza
US ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza has expressed his attitude towards remarks of some political experts about policies pursued by his country.
The ambassador noted that Washington seeks development of relations between the two countries.
Washington does not interfere in internal affairs of Azerbaijan. A number of important commitments bind the US to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan is a US friend and partner, the envoy added.
'We want the citizens, government and civil society of Azerbaijan to spend their energy on strengthening democratic institutionsand economic reforms in the country.'
Bryza said the US does not favor a revolution in any country in the world.
'Our desire is to step up sustainable activity and reform. As to the meeting with the opposition leaders, last time there was a meeting with Ali Karimli and Isa Gambar. But I did not attend the meeting.
I believe that the meeting of any US Embassy employee with the opposition representatives is not an unusual and blameworthy thing. This is a part of a democratic system and a step towards progress,' the embassador said.
