Azerbaijan will not join any anti-Iranian campaign, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has said.
He is the latest Azerbaijani official to dismiss claims made in an article entitled "Israel's Secret Staging Ground", published last week in Foreign Policy magazine. The article claims that Azerbaijan is allowing Israel to make use of its airfields for an attack on Iran.
"If there are any such proposals or initiatives, Azerbaijan will not accept them," Elmar Mammadyarov said, according to APA.
He said that Azerbaijan and Iran maintained neighbourly relations.
The minister cited as an example the declaration adopted by Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey at a meeting in Nakhchivan last month.
Azerbaijan will continue its policy of neighbourly, friendly relations with Iran, Mammadyarov said.
