Energy expert Alexandros Petersen among those killed in deadly attack at Kabul restaurant.

A Taliban suicide bomber and gunmen attacked a restaurant popular with foreigners in the heart of the Afghan capital Kabul, according to the New York Times. There were 13 foreigners among those killed, including Advisor to Global Europe Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a friend of Azerbaijan, Alexandros Petersen. He moved to Kabul to teach political science at the American University of Afghanistan.

Mr Petersen, the author of The World Island: Eurasian Geopolitics and the Fate of the West, made considerable contribution to increasing the awareness of the American society and political circles of Azerbaijan`s importance to the West, particularly the United States.

He visited Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc) last November to meet its Director General Aslan Aslanov to discuss prospects for building cooperation between the agency and the Woodrow Wilson Center, AzerTAc reports.
