The event was organized at the office of B'nai B'rith International, according to the Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States.
Executive Vice President of B'nai B'rith International Daniel Mariaschin welcomed the cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and organization Save a Child's Heart.
Executive Director of Save a Child's Heart in the U.S. David Litvak provided information about the organization. He noted that as a result of cooperation with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, opportunities will be created for surgery of Azerbaijani children with congenital heart failure at the Wolfson Medical Centre of Save a Child's Heart, operating in Israel.
Litvak also said that this project will organize trainings for Azerbaijani experts and stressed that his organization is ready to support the establishment of specialized medical centres in our country.
Speaking at the event, representative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the U.S. Jamila Pashayeva-Seyidzade provided information about the Foundation, which this year will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Concerning the opportunities offered by cooperation with organization Save a Child's Heart, she said that the health and welfare of children do not depend on their nationality and have no boundaries, and the ongoing project serves a great purpose, like saving children's lives.
Pashayeva-Seyidzade stressed that being a doctor by profession, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva focuses on projects in the health sector, in particular, aimed at treating children.
Noting that despite this project is presented in Washington, she expressed her hope that it will boost the existing bridges between the three countries – Azerbaijan, US and Israel.
The event participants also watched a short film about activities of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and were presented with publications on various themes by the Foundation.
Adviser of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the US Fakhraddin Ismayilov noted that as a result of far-sighted policy of Azerbaijani leadership, the republic has evolved into a donor state from a country that received humanitarian aid.
Heydar Aliyev Foundation has made great contribution to charitable activities Azerbaijan holds around the world, he said.
In his turn, Minister-Counsellor of Israel in the United States Eli Groner highly appreciated the cooperation between Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Save a Child’s Heart assessing it as another proof of friendly ties between the countries and peoples.
Summing up the presentation, President of US office of Save a Child’s Heart Barry Perlis thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for cooperation with representatives of the organization and the support it provided.
Representative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the US Pashayeva-Seidzade met with Chairman of the Board of Save a Child’s Heart Frances Cook a couple of days ago to discuss the prospects of cooperation.
