Two Azerbaijani boxers to compete in Euro-2011 final

The semifinal fights of the European boxing championship are underway in Ankara.

It involved three Azerbaijani boxers, with two gaining victories and reaching the final.

Debutant of the major contests among adults Salman Alizade (49 kg) beat English opponent Charles Edwards 24:14. In the final, our boxer will have to come up against Russia’s Belik Hasanov.

Teymur Mammadov (91 kg) also reached the final. In the semifinal, he frustrated Germany’s Johann Witt -18-12. In the final, Mammadov is to compete the finalist of the previous European championship, Bulgaria’s Tervel Pulev.

In the category below 64 kg, Heybatulla Hajaliyev fought against the Irish Raymond Moylette and lost 16-18. Thus, Hajaliyev became the bronze winner.

The finals are to be held today and start at 16.00 Baku time.
