French defense minister visits Turkey to discuss Syria, joint projects.

French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian is visiting Turkey for talks on bilateral defense projects as well as the crisis in Syria.

The visiting minister will have talks with his Turkish counterpart, Ismet Yılmaz, on Friday to seek ways to strengthen current cooperation in defense projects between NATO allies Turkey and France, especially the issue of tenders in the defense industry. The ministers are also expected to discuss arming the opposition fighting forces loyal to Syria's embattled President, Bashar al-Assad.

Le Drian's two-day visit comes at the invitation of Yılmaz.
