Almost one-third of Armenia’s population has left the homeland in the past 20 years, RA Migration department reports.

Russia is the most popular destination point for Armenian migrants, says Head of the State Migration Agency Irina Davtyan citing a 2009 UN report on migration, Kavkazsky Uzel e-source informs Oct. 29.

“[In Russia] Armenia veers away from the general trend as UN studies show that most international migrants, as a rule, tend to emigrate from developing countries to developed ones,” stated Davtyan adding that better job opportunities abroad motivate the outflow, Eurasia.org reads.
