The Gabala IV International Music Festival organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation continues successfully.

On 29 July, a concert was held as part of the festival on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the USSR and Azerbaijani People's Artist, prominent conductor and composer Niyazi, AzerTAj reported.

A letter addressed to the participants by President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was read at the event.

The letter reads: Dear festival participants! Azerbaijan, presenting traditions of tolerance from time immemorial, being home to representatives of different nations and religions living together in peace for centuries and constantly contributing to promotion and development of intercultural and intercivilizational dialogue, has been known in recent years as a place hosting international music and art festivals, conferences and exhibitions.

It's gratifying that these events contributing to mutual enrichment of different cultures are taking a wider scope year after year. Just a couple of months ago, it hosted the most prestigious competition of Europe, Eurovision-2012 Song Contest, and this time also music united people regardless of nationality, religion and political vision in Baku.

By holding the International Music Festival in Gabala, one of the beautiful places of Azerbaijan, in 2009, a new tradition was founded in the national musical culture history of our country. This festival serving the expansion of international cultural relations, presenting our rich musical culture to the world community and strengthening mutual understanding and friendship among nations has already become a beautiful tradition and is increasing its international prestige year after year.

I believe that as in every year, this year's festival involving world renowned music figures will be an unforgettable music festival and will remain as one of the meaningful pages in our musical culture history."

Then, an interesting concert program was presented to viewers with participation of soloists of the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as Professor of the Baku Music Academy, Honored Art Worker, presidential prize winner, conductor Yalchin Adigozalov, conductor of the Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre Ayyub Guliyev, participant of international competitions and festivals, Fuad Ibrahimov (conductor), student of the Italian Pezaro Academy of Music Azar Rzazada (tenor), and Honored Artist and presidential prize winner Gulnaz Ismayilova (soprano).

The London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the world's top famous orchestras, mesmerized the audience with its high level performances. Art director and chief conductor of the orchestra is Charles Dutoit. He has earned more than 40 international awards and distinctions, including two Grammy Awards.

The musicians performed an ouverture from Uzeyir Hajibayli’s “Koroglu” opera, Niyazi’s “Arzu”, “Gaytagi” and “Vatan” songs, and “Rast” symphonic mugam. Thus the international festival's program started with this concert. In coming days, prominent musicians, art crews, soloists and conductors from the UK, Russia, France, Slovenia, USA, Switzerland, Italy and Poland will perform at the festival. The next concerts of the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be held on 31-31 July and 3-5 August.
