President visits southern Masalli District

President Ilham Aliyev has laid the foundations of a major new water supply and sewerage system in Masalli.

The Masalli system, part of a national water supply and sewerage project, will include a new water reservoir with a volume of 5,000 cubic metres.

The deputy head of the Amelioration and Water Management open joint-stock company, Mammad Guliyev, told the president that the old water supply system and sewage plant in Masalli were obsolete, APA reported.

Under the project, 180 litres of water per day will be available for every Masalli resident. This requires a supply of 2.4 million cubic metres per day by 2030.

The project will use the existing Vileshchay reservoir as well as construct a new reservoir.

A treatment plant will have the capacity to treat 22,000 cubic metres of water per day, which will meet the need for drinking water in Masalli and Jalilabad districts.

The Melioration and Water Management Company has carried out similar projects in Siyazan, Shabran, Agsu, Ismayilli, Jalilabad, Yardimli and Lerik.

After laying the foundations of the new water system, Ilham Aliyev inspected renovation work at the Masalli Cultural Centre.

The centre was built in 1956 and in urgent need of renovation, which began in August.

The president gave recommendations after inspecting the completed renovation at the centre's 358-seat theatre.

While in Masalli, Ilham Aliyev opened a Youth Centre.

The centre has a120-seat 3D cinema hall, exhibition hall, shooting range, playstation room, painting gallery, 30-seat conference hall, foreign language learning facilities, 15-person computer room, electronic and multimedia library, karaoke room and a café.

In the conference hall President Ilham Aliyev met young people from Bilasuvar, Jalilabad, Masalli, Lankaran, Astara, Lerik and Yardimli districts.

The president opened a cold store and hothouses of the Masera company in Masalli, the presidential website reported.

The cold store, with a capacity of 1,200 tonnes, and the two hectares of hothouses, have been built as part of the State Program for the Socio-Economic Development of the Regions .
