Azerbaijan interested in Russia's Mi-28

Azerbaijani servicemen taking part in MAX-2015 avia show in Russia have demonstrated interest in Mi-28.

According to Oxu.Az, the information was disseminated by Vedomosti.

The newspaper cites an unknown source saying that Azerbaijani servicemen closely familiarized with Mi-28 combat helicopter.

"Baku really shows interest in these helicopters, though earlier this country was supplied with 24 combat helicopters Mi-25 of the older generation," representative of another enterprise exhibiting at the event said adding that it is early to speak about the possibility of a contract.

The Mil Mi-28 (NATO reporting name "Havoc") is a Russian all-weather, day-night, military tandem, two-seat anti-armor attack helicopter. It is a dedicated attack helicopter with no intended secondary transport capability, better optimized than the Mil Mi-24 gunship for the role. It carries a single gun in an undernose barbette, plus external loads carried on pylons beneath stub wings.
