Azerbaijani official killed in Cairo

The accountant at the Azerbaijani embassy in Cairo has been killed in the unrest gripping Egypt.

Nijat Gojayev was returning home from work in the evening of 29 January when he was hit by a bullet,  Foreign Ministry spokesman Elkhan Polukhov said.

His body was returned to Azerbaijan on Sunday.

A special flight from Cairo has brought Azerbaijani citizens back to Baku.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Sunday evening instructed that aeroplanes be sent to Egypt to evacuate all Azerbaijani citizens wishing to leave.

Azerbaijani citizens living in Egypt are asked to contact the embassy's hot line telephones in Cairo for assistance.
