Azerbaijani national chess team becomes European chess champion in Poland

The European team chess championship has ended in Poland.

According to Sport.1news.az, the men’s team of Azerbaijan played a 2-2 draw against Armenia in the final ninth round of the Open tournament. In a very important match Russia beat France 2.5-1.5. This allowed the Azerbaijani team to set above France in the tournament table and come first. In the final our team gained 14 points. France is second (13 points) and Russia is a bronze winner with its 13 points.

In the women’s contest the national team of Azerbaijan had 8 points after 1.5-2.5% defeat from Czech Republic and finished 20th. Ukraine won with 15 points. It is followed by Russia and Poland (14 points each).
