New quake hits eastern Turkey

A magnitude-5 quake which hit the Van area after midnight has lead to panic among the people.

A large number of people who jumped from balconies out of fear and panic were injured.

Some of the hospitals in the Education and Research Hospital in Van were also transferred to other hospitals in the neighbouring provinces.

No loss of lives or property was reported from the quake ,according to initial reports.

The latests tremor is reported to have centered in the village of Kurubash.

Panic dominated the city for a while after the quake ,which was acutely felt in several other cities and towns in the region.

Many of the residents of the city assembled in tea houses to shake off their anxiety.
