Global health advocates have urged Cepheid, the makers of a key mpox diagnostic test, to reduce the price of its GeneXpert mpox test from around $20 per test to $5, citing concerns over low testing rates in poorer countries heavily affected by the virus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has listed the first mpox in vitro diagnostic (IVD) test under its Emergency Use Listing (EUL) procedure, marking a significant step toward enhancing global access to mpox testing.
