Global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) is projected to grow by 60% by 2040, largely driven by economic growth in Asia, the impact of AI, and initiatives to reduce emissions in heavy industries and transportation, according to Shell.

Global gas demand is projected to grow by at least 10–12% over the next 20 years, with potential for even greater increases, Russian First Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin has said.
