Vladimir Yankelevich is an Israeli expert, Soviet naval officer, and Captain 1st Rank. He was born in 1946 in Baku and graduated from the Higher Naval School in Leningrad. He served in the Pacific Fleet for 27 years. From 1985 to 1991, he was the director of a military factory in Vladivostok. After demobilization in 1992, he founded the Jewish community in the city, and in 1995, he established and led the Jewish Religious and Cultural Community Center. In 2006, he repatriated to Israel.
