A Nepali mountain guide who was feared dead after disappearing in Mount Everest’s notorious “death zone” has been found alive after surviving alone on the mountain for six days, in what rescuers are calling a remarkable self rescue.

Police have reported that at least three climbers, including a French national, were killed by an avalanche on a Himalayan peak in northeastern Nepal.

A Pakistani climber was killed, and three others, including foreign mountaineers, were injured after an avalanche struck their location on K2, the world’s second-highest mountain, officials reported on Friday.
