Two Singaporean nationals who had been missing for several days following the eruption of Mount Dukono on Indonesia’s Halmahera island were confirmed dead on Sunday, according to local rescue authorities.

Indonesian authorities are rushing to rescue ​20 hikers after the eruption of Mount ‌Dukono on Halmahera island on Friday, a local rescue agency official told Reuters.

Explosive activity continues at the Dukono Volcano, with a significant volcanic ash plume rising to an altitude of approximately 10,000 feet (3,000 meters), posing potential risks to aviation.

Mount Dukono in North Halmahera, Indonesia's North Maluku, erupted again on Friday morning, belching volcanic ash up to a height of about 1.1 kilometers above its summit.
