An extraordinary chapter in automotive history has officially drawn to a close. Tesla has ceased production of its pioneering Model S sedan and Model X SUV at its Fremont, California factory, bringing an end to a spectacular 14-year run that fundamentally forced the global auto industry to embrace electrification.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Wednesday that the company will end production of its Model S and Model X vehicles and repurpose its Fremont, California, factory to manufacture Optimus humanoid robots.

Two people were killed and at least one person is missing after a train struck pedestrians on Sunday evening in Fremont, a city in northern Ohio, authorities said.
