Japan has stepped up security measures ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for February 8, amid growing concerns over threats to political candidates in the wake of the 2022 assassination of former prime minister Shinzo Abe.
Early voting for next month’s House of Representatives election began on Wednesday at Japanese diplomatic missions around the world and at designated locations across Japan.
