Police rushed to Keysborough College around 3 p.m. following reports of the stabbing, News.Az reports, citing Australian media.
The male staff member was taken into custody at the scene and is expected to be interviewed by authorities.
The principal was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
He will also be interviewed by police.
The investigation remains ongoing.
