South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics is planning to invest in a semiconductor chip packaging facility in Vietnam, according to a person familiar with the matter, as global demand for advanced chips continues to rise.

U.S. semiconductor company Micron Technology announced plans to build a second manufacturing facility in Taiwan after acquiring the Tongluo P5 site from Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp.

Vietnam’s military-run telecom company Viettel on Friday began construction of the country’s first semiconductor fabrication plant, with trial production expected by late 2027.

South Korea’s SK Hynix announced on Tuesday that it will invest 19 trillion won ($12.9 billion) to build an advanced chip packaging plant in South Korea, aimed at meeting rising memory chip demand driven by artificial intelligence.
