Indonesia’s Mount Semeru erupted in East Java province, sending a column of volcanic ash 3,000 metres above its crater.

A new safety alert has been issued for Sydney, Australia, this morning as the State Emergency Service (SES) warned of torrential rainfall.

Mount Lewotobi in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province erupted on Friday, prompting the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center to issue an aviation warning and a safety advisory.
