Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese signaled on Monday that the government will push for tougher gun laws following a deadly mass shooting at Bondi Beach, Sydney.

The attack left 16 people dead, including one of the gunmen, and 42 others injured. Authorities said the suspects were a father and son, with the father killed at the scene and the son in critical but stable condition, News.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

Albanese said the national Cabinet will discuss measures including limits on the number of guns per person, stricter licensing, and regular license reviews.

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns added that legislation is needed to prevent such attacks and restrict access to weapons with no practical civilian use.

The shooting drew widespread international condemnation, highlighting renewed urgency for gun law reforms in Australia.
