Oil prices fell for a second consecutive day on Thursday, following reports of significant increases in fuel inventories in the U.S., the world's largest oil consumer. However, expectations for higher winter fuel demand and concerns over tighter supply helped limit the decline.

According to Commerce Department data released Thursday, wholesale inventories in the U.S. rose by 0.3% in July compared to the previous month.
