Japanese authorities have launched a search after a sightseeing helicopter went missing near Mount Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture on Tuesday, January 20.

Three U.S. military helicopters made emergency landings Thursday afternoon at a commercial airport in western Japan, the Japanese Defense Ministry said.

A medical transport helicopter crashed into the sea off southwestern Japan, resulting in the deaths of a patient and two others, according to the Japan Coast Guard.

A U.S. military helicopter crash landed in a rice paddy in Kanagawa prefecture, southwest of Tokyo, on Saturday, national broadcaster NHK reported.
