Sweden has said it is ready to provide Ukraine with Gripen fighter jets and resources for Black Sea demining, but only after a peace agreement with Russia is signed, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said on X.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit Sweden on Wednesday for talks with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson focused on defence cooperation, the Swedish government announced.

Sweden will sharply increase its defense budget in 2026, allocating an additional 26.6 billion crowns ($2.87 billion) to strengthen its armed forces, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced on Monday.

Several European leaders voiced concern over the possibility of a transatlantic trade war. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s office said it “would make no sense to trigger a trade war between the two sides of the Atlantic.”
