Two journalists in the Maldives were reportedly jailed after publishing allegations concerning an alleged affair involving the country’s president, triggering widespread debate about press freedom, freedom of expression, and the state of democracy in the Indian Ocean island nation.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said that the Israeli occupation forces carried out 53 violations against Palestinian journalists during the month of March.
According to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), 104 journalists and media workers have been killed globally in 2024, with more than half of them losing their lives during the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, News.az reports citing foreign media.
