Three individuals previously reported missing in Azerbaijan have been found and returned to authorities, the Interior Ministry’s press service said on January 3.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Azerbaijan's State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons and the Missing Persons Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, met Monday with Kathryne Bomberger, Director-General of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

Azerbaijan, as a matter of priority, will further consolidate international efforts to address the issue of missing persons, the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The tragedy of missing persons is one of the grave consequences of Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev said in his letter to the participants of the international conference titled “Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons: Upholding Families’ Right to Know the Truth.”

Families of missing persons have the right to know the whereabouts of their missing relatives, Stefan Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General told Report's US bureau.

Baku said Friday that Armenia keeps refusing to reveal the whereabouts of missing Azerbaijanis.

Excavations conducted in Azerbaijani territories liberated from the Armenian occupation have unearthed 18 mass graves, from which the remains of 169 individuals have been exhumed.
