Longstanding mayor of Istanbul's Esenyurt district resigns
Necmi Kadıoğlu, a mayor from Justice and Development (AK) Party for Esenyurt, a district on Istanbul's European side, announced his resignation on Friday.
Kadıoğlu cited health reasons for his resignation, Hurriyet Daily News reports.
The 63 year old was first elected in 2004, was re-elected in successive elections.
