Yemen’s presidential council leader declared a state of emergency on Tuesday and annulled a security agreement with the United Arab Emirates after Abu Dhabi-backed separatists captured significant territory.

In an official statement, the government announced, “The Joint Defence Agreement with the United Arab Emirates is hereby cancelled,” News.Az reports, citing AFP.

A separate decree imposed a 90-day state of emergency, including a 72-hour blockade of air, sea, and land access.
