More than 700 people are believed to have died following devastating floods that struck the Nigerian town of Mokwa in central Niger State, local officials said.

The death toll from severe flooding in Mokwa, a town in Nigeria’s north-central Niger State, has climbed to 151, according to an update from local authorities on Saturday.

At least 60 people were killed after a boat carrying mostly women and children returning from a religious festival in Nigeria's northern Niger state capsized this week, a local official said, News.Az reports citing Reuters .
