Japan partially lifted wildfire evacuation orders on Friday as rain helped contain the country's most devastating wildfire in over 50 years.

Firefighters in Japan are battling the country’s most severe wildfire in half a century, which has claimed one life and prompted the evacuation of nearly 4,000 residents.

Japan has deployed more than 2,000 firefighters to battle the country's biggest forest fire in three decades.

At least one person has been confirmed dead, and 84 houses have been destroyed as a wildfire broke out Wednesday in Ofunato, Japan’s Iwate Prefecture.
