Poland will withdraw from the Ottawa Convention, which bans anti-personnel landmines, in the coming weeks, a move aimed at giving the military greater flexibility to strengthen security along the country’s eastern border, Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk has announced.

Finland has officially submitted its intention to withdraw from the Ottawa Anti-Personnel Landmines Convention, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement on Thursday, July 10.

The Polish Sejm (parliament) has voted to withdraw from the Ottawa Convention, which bans the use of anti-personnel landmines.

Finland is set to withdraw from the Ottawa Convention, which bans the use of landmines, President Alexander Stubb revealed on Tuesday.
