One person was killed and three others wounded in Russia’s Voronezh region during an overnight Ukrainian drone strike, while Ukrainian officials reported six injuries from Russian drone attacks on the Kharkiv and Zhytomyr regions.

A fire broke out at an oil depot in Russia’s Tambov Oblast and several fuel tanks were damaged in the neighboring Voronezh Oblast after reported overnight drone strikes attributed to Ukraine, according to local officials and media.

Russia’s Defence Ministry reported that Ukrainian forces launched four U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles targeting the southern city of Voronezh in what Moscow described as an attempted strike on civilian areas. Russian officials said all missiles were intercepted by S-400 air defence systems and Pantsir missile-gun complexes. Debris reportedly damaged a retirement home, an orphanage, and one private house, but no civilian injuries were reported.

A potential railway tragedy was narrowly avoided in Russia’s Voronezh Region after an explosive device damaged a section of track just moments before a train was due to arrive, authorities said.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting and destroying 59 Ukrainian drones overnight on Sunday, March 23.
