"The deployment of forces of any third country on the territory of Armenia is a worrying factor," Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev told journalists, News.az reports.
He said that the Azerbaijani side does not see any need for the participation of a third party in the delimitation process which is carried out in a peaceful and mutually agreed condition:
"We do not see a need for the deployment of any European Union mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The activities of said mission should be completed by now. The deployment of the mission was agreed in Prague with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as Charles Michel and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. That mission was supposed to be short-term. As we have seen, it is becoming a permanent mission, and its composition and geographical mandate area are being expanded. We do not see any need for the participation of a third party in the delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is carried out in a peaceful and mutually agreed condition. We do not consider the European Union mission to be a factor contributing to the consolidation of peace in the region. This is a factor of concern."
