The first direct flight on the Belgrade–Baku route was officially welcomed on May 3 at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.

Serbian Air Force fighter jets escorted President Ilham Aliyev’s aircraft as he returned from Serbia to Baku, a ceremonial gesture widely seen as a sign of strong bilateral relations between the two countries.

Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, met with a delegation led by Major General Brane Krnjajić, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Republic of Serbia.

Air Serbia, a national air carrier of Serbia, plan to launch direct test flights from Belgrade to Baku by the end of 2024.
