Reunion is one of the territories suffering from French and Dutch colonialism, said Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG).

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes on Tuesday resumed the trial of Martin Ryan, a foreign national accused of espionage on behalf of France, and Azad Mammadli, an Azerbaijani citizen facing charges of treason.

“French Polynesia and New Caledonia have been recognized as non-self-governing territories by the United Nations since 1946-1947. However, their decolonization process is still delayed,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Wednesday.
