A powerful earthquake struck northern Japan early Monday, intensifying concerns after a series of recent tremors and prompting warnings of more to come.

A wildfire in Japan’s Iwate Prefecture in the northeast of the country continued to spread on Thursday, with the burned area expanding to more than 200 hectares.

Over a hundred more households in northeastern Japan were told to evacuate on Saturday as a wildfire that has been burning for four days continued to spread.

At least one person has been confirmed dead, and 84 houses have been destroyed as a wildfire broke out Wednesday in Ofunato, Japan’s Iwate Prefecture.
