Chinese tech giant Lenovo has warned that a worsening global memory-chip shortage could put pressure on PC shipments, as rising component costs challenge the industry.

Lenovo plans to partner with multiple large language model (LLM) developers worldwide as it aims to establish itself as a global player in artificial intelligence, the company’s Chief Financial Officer Winston Cheng said at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

China’s Lenovo, the world’s largest PC maker, has partnered with U.S. AI chip leader Nvidia to help AI cloud providers deploy data centres faster. The announcement came at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, where Lenovo also unveiled concept devices, an AI platform, and its first foldable smartphone under the Motorola brand.

Google is announcing an array of new security features as it releases its second Android 15 beta, including a feature that can detect the moment your phone is swiped from your hands, according to The Verge. Some of these updates will be included with Android 15 when it arrives this fall, but theft detection and a number of other features will be available to phones with much older OS versions, too — bringing them to many more people.
