The period of state border closure between Azerbaijan and Georgia has been extended until April 20, Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers told Trend.

Companies of 12 spheres will get benefits in Azerbaijan amid coronavirus, said the country’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Trend reports.

Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers has held a meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ali Asadov on March 23.

People over the age of 65 are banned from leaving their homes in Azerbaijan due to the threat of coronavirus, APA reports.

Some 23,049 people are coronavirus carriers in Iran, Spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education Kiyanush Jahanpur said, Trend reports referring to the ministry.

"The Azerbaijan Republic guided by the principle of taking care of its citizens has ensured bringing back in the country of about 10,000 Azerbaijani citizens being in Iran, Italy, Turkey, Hungary, Belarus, Russia, and other countries at public expense by AZAL’s special charter flights and other transport facilities", APA reports citing the information disseminated by the Operative Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.

"Currently the whole world is fighting against the dangerous novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared pandemic at the global level. The Azerbaijani government is taking serious measures in order to prevent the risk of spreading the COVID-19 infection, and this process is under the direct control of the head of the state", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva thanked those who voluntarily donated to the Fund to Support Fight Against Coronavirus which was established under the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev, aiming to take preventive measures and speed up the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19).

Iran on Monday announced 127 new deaths from the novel coronavirus, raising the official toll to 1,812 in one of the worst hit countries along with Italy, Spain and China, AFP reported.

Seven more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Azerbaijan, the Operational Headquarters under the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers told Trend on March 23.
