Samir Nuriyev, head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, said the matter had been discussed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness for comprehensive cooperation with Ethiopia, in line with the president’s instructions, News.Az reports, citing AZERTAC.

Nuriyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts during COP29, held in Baku in November 2024 under Aliyev’s leadership, noting that the conference resulted in several landmark decisions.
Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos Hessebon praised Azerbaijan for what he described as the excellent organisation of COP29, saying the country had left a significant legacy. He expressed Ethiopia’s interest in working closely with Azerbaijan in preparation for COP32 and commended Baku’s organisational, logistical and substantive support.
The sides underlined the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in organising the 32nd Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, signed by the two countries’ foreign ministers during the Ethiopian prime minister’s visit to Azerbaijan.
They also exchanged views on the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum, which is scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan in 2026.
